What Is an Anchor Text Generator Tool?
Anchor text generator tools help you personalize your anchor text profile. Anchors are categorized into three separate groups:
A blended/phrase match anchor — The anchor text has all or a part of one of your target keywords, along with other “random” words. For example, you can use the phrase “link building strategies” as your anchor text to link to a page about link building. This is true even if “strategies” isn’t a part of the page.
An exact match anchor — The anchor text only includes the key phrase you’re trying to rank for. For example, if your keyword research showed that a good keyword to rank for was “link building,” you would use this exact anchor to link to a page about link building.
A natural anchor — The anchor text is generic or has your brand name or URL as the anchor. There’s no reference to a key phrase you’ve chosen. Using “Searchbloom” as the anchor text for an internal or external link is a “natural” anchor. You can also use the anchor text generator tool to find a natural way to connect a brand name to a keyword.
To rank on the first page of search results, you need an anchor text profile that is natural for your niche, and which helps you move the needle when it comes to building relevant backlinks on your website.
How to Use the Anchor Text Generator Tool
Using the anchor text generator tool is super easy and intuitive. You can download the results into a .csv file, bookmark your favorite phrases, hand them off to your content strategist or copywriter to start incorporating them into your website.
Here’s how it works:
Enter your desired keywords. You can stick to just a Brand Name and pop in one or more keywords.
Select your page type. This will determine the ratio of various types of links are needed for a particular page type. For instance, Google expects to see anchor texts that use your brand name or the URL for your backlinks on Homepage.
Pick the type of anchor text. If we continue with the above example, you want to pick “Natural.” If the page you’re working on is blog content, you might choose Branded + Keyword or Phrase Match.
