Static site generators need a different mental model. Hugo, Jekyll, Eleventy, Astro, Next.js in SSG mode, Gatsby, and similar SSGs all work the same way. They need integration at the build and deploy layer. Not at the content-edit layer. The content-edit layer is the CMS or markdown files in a git repo. It does not publish content direct. The Astro + Cloudflare Pages pattern uses Cloudflare Pages's build hooks. Cloudflare Pages offers Deployment Succeeded webhooks. They can call any HTTPS endpoint. Cloudflare Workers are the natural host for the IndexNow submission service. They run in the same edge infrastructure as the Pages deploy. That cuts latency. It pulls ops into one place.
