About our Partner
Who They Are
This Searchbloom partner is a used car and salvage parts business. The founder started it more than 20 years ago and has bought thousands of vehicles from local customers.
What They Do
Cars don't have to run to have value here: the partner assesses used and non-running cars, pays cash for them, and sells the working parts to customers. That gives the business two audiences: people who want to sell a car and people who need a part.
Why They Came to Searchbloom
- Difficulty scaling up the business
- Too few organic leads from the website
- Heavy reliance on PPC (pay-per-click) advertising
The Problem
Every new lead cost ad money, so growth and ad spend rose together.
Growth Had Stalled
Where were the leads coming from? Mostly pay-per-click, and growth had stalled. When the founder wanted to scale, the agency managing the ads said to spend more on advertising.
A Better Option
The founder didn't think more spending was the answer and reached out to Searchbloom. How much of this demand could the website earn through organic search, rather than through paid clicks? That was our question.
The Solution
After auditing the website in late 2014, Searchbloom recommended a mix of pay-per-click and search engine optimization. To drive more organic traffic, we followed Searchbloom's proprietary SEO methodology: Authority, Relevancy, and Technology (ART).
To build authority, the Searchbloom team removed low-quality links pointing to the site. Too many low-quality links relative to high-quality ones can trigger penalties from Google's search algorithm, so we started there. We found many spam sites linking to the partner, disavowed those links, and replaced them with high-quality ones. The team then earned new high-quality, relevant links through link building.
We also cleaned up local citations. Many directory listings were duplicates. Others had inaccurate information. Name, address, and phone number now match the Google Business Profile exactly.
The team restructured parts of the website for usability and wrote content to educate and inform potential customers. We also applied the items below to each page to increase relevance.
- Keyword Ranking Audit
- Competitive Keyword Analysis
- Keyword Themes and Mapping
- Optimized Title Tags & Meta Descriptions
- Updated Heading Tags
- Internal Link Improvements
- Improved the Relevance of On-Page Content
To rank well in Google, a site needs to be well optimized, mobile responsive, and fast. We identified and fixed each technical issue below.
- Site Speed Optimization
- Cleaned up Code
- Image Compression
- Code Compression
- URL & Silo Structure
- Google Search Console Optimization
The audit set the order of work. It found spam sites linking to the partner and business listings that disagreed with each other. Both undercut any new content, so we cleaned up the citations and purged the low-quality links first, and kept paid search running alongside while the repairs took effect.
The first six months turned the repairs into traffic. Interest in the business grew, and so did emails and phone calls.
The Results
Rankings and organic traffic both rose sharply under the local SEO work.

In March 2018 the founder called Searchbloom to say the business didn't need to spend on PPC ads anymore. Organic traffic and leads had grown past what advertising delivered, the result we'd been working toward.
