How to use the Keyword Mixer Tool
Combine separate word lists into every possible keyword combination in seconds. A fast way to build out keyword lists and location pages.
- Enter your word lists. Type or paste a set of words into each column, such as services in one column and cities in another.
- Set your options. Open Advanced Options to choose a separator or wrap each result in quotes or brackets. This step is optional.
- Merge the lists. Select Merge to generate every combination of your words.
- Copy your keywords. Copy the finished list and drop it into your campaign or spreadsheet.
When to use a keyword mixer
Any time you need to pair one set of terms with another, the mixer saves you from typing out combinations by hand. Pair services with cities for local campaigns, or products with modifiers for shopping. What would take an hour by hand takes a few seconds here.
Wondering how the Keyword Mixer is different from the Keyword Wrapper? At first glance the two look alike. They actually pair up well, and you can start in the Keyword Mixer, then feed those results straight into the Wrapper to build out even more keyword permutations for your next campaign.
Here is how it works:
- Work from left to right. We suggest Location, Modifier, and Noun, but you do not have to follow that order. Mix and match however you like.
- Drop your chosen keywords into separate "lists".
- Pick the match types you want:
- Broad match: shown by a space.
- Phrase match: wrap the keywords in quotes " ".
- Exact match: wrap the keywords in square brackets [ ].
- Hit "Merge" to get a full set of combinations you can paste into your Google Ads campaign. You can also reuse a few of the new permutations in your Keyword Wrapper exercise.
- Your picks show up in the "Short List". When the list looks right, hit "Save Keywords" to push them to the "Long List". Duplicates are removed for you.
- Repeat until you are ready to export the Long List to a CSV file.
